Conference in Santa Fe, Argentina a Major Success

On May 22-23, 2014, ACR and its International Section co-sponsored a conference in Santa Fe, Argentina, which is the capital of the Argentine province of the same name.  ACR’s co-sponsors were the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (“UNL,” a national public university), Consultora Equipo I.M.C.A. (an ADR consulting firm in Buenos Aires), and MEDeS (an ADR group from Milan, Italy). Between 100 and 200 people attended the conference. In addition to participants from throught Argentina, there were participants from the United States, Paraguay, Brazil, Colombia and Italy. The conference took place at UNL's law school, located at Candido Pujato 2751 in Santa Fe.

The conference began on the morning of May 22 with opening remarks from representatives of all four co-sponsors. Over the course of the next two days, a diverse group of fifteen experts spoke on five different panels. The panelists included noted practitioners and scholars, as well as government officials and a former ambasador.

Panel I focused on "Approaches to International Conflicts."  The speakers for Panel I, moderated by Selva Digiorgio, were Regina Maria Coelho Michelon (Brazil) and Ambassador Victorio Taccetti (Argentina).

Panel II focused on "Managing Conflict in Sports." The speakers for Panel II, moderated by Alicia Garayo, were María Alba Aiello de Almeida (Argentina), Gerardo Acosta Pérez (Paraguay), Antonio Grispo (Argentina) and N. Viviana Poblete (Argentina).

Equipo I.M.C.A., UNL and MEDes, ACR's co-organizers of the conference, did an excellent job in every respect.  UNL, in particular, was a generous and meticulous conference host.
